map cutout lampshades

I have to say, I'm pretty good with a map. I once successfully found my way out of Rhode Island with one. This was during my pre-GPS days, and for the record I had no intention of being in RI at the time. It's one of my proudest moments to date. (I know, it's really not that impressive.) There's a point to all of this map talk, trust me. I apologize you had to sit through my usual rambling, though.

If you're good with a pair of scissors and have some old maps lying around, this is for you. (And if you can't seem to get a clean cut like most guys I've seen use scissors in my presence, you can buy these lampshades here.)

I came across this idea at eclu's Etsy shop, but I figured it was something easy enough to try yourself. With an old map, make small circle cutouts with a pair of scissors. Try to get each cutout the same size (but I'm sure different sized circles would be just as interesting). With a tiny bit of hot glue, attach each cutout to a lampshade, overlapping them. (Here is a cheap lampshade for $20.)
